No New Ideas?

So a while back, I read a review for a YA book that is going to be released next spring and I had to do a facepalm. The name of the government in my book (that I thought was original, btw) is the name of the government in the other book. A book that is going to be published. Ugh!  Then a few days ago, I read a review of another YA book that is going to be released soon and I discovered that something else I used in my book has been used in this other book.  And it's something I will definitely have to change. *double facepalm*

Have you ever written a book and discovered that some of your ideas have already been used?

My Baby's Getting a New Name

Okay, I'm not talking about any of my kidlets.  That would be weird.  The WIP is in the midst of getting a huge makeover and with that comes a brand new title.  I've made a big plot change and the original title gives things away (Yeah, I'm going for a mysterious thing here cause I'm mean like that).  To be honest, it's hard.  I've been calling it this one thing for over a year now and I've got to get used to thinking of it differently. And if I'm having issues with changing the title, I couldn't imagine how authors feel about having to adjust to a new title after they have a book deal.

So I'm back to the revising trenches, trying to come up with something brilliant for a new title (forgot to mention that I don't have a clue what the new title is going to be yet). Fun times;)

Are you attached to your current title?  Have you ever had to change your title and was it difficult or no big deal to you?
